Yalova Thermal Spas were formed by some natural events 4000 years ago and have been places where people seek a remedy for 2000 years.

The firstTurkish baths of Yalova Thermal Baths were built by the Emperor of Byzantine, Constantinus(312-337) about 1600 years ago.

During the Ottoman Empire, they were constructed by Sultan Abdulmecid (1831-1861) and they earned a great reputation as Bezm-i Alem Sultana, the mother of Abdulmecid had found a healing for her arthritis in these spas. Therefore, Abdulmecid made new baths and mansions there and opened the roads of the spas that are used at present. Then during the reign of Abdulhamid (1876-1908), they regained their reputation and became the most popular center of health and entertainment.

The destiny of Yalova Thermal Spas was changed after Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s visit in 19 August 1929.  Ataturk, having been fascinated by the spas, made great efforts to make Yalova a world-famous health center and water city. He also developed the city by bringing famous chefs from various parts of Turkey. Today, Yalova Thermal Spas owe their worldwide  reputation to great leader Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK.
